    Trio Smiles!

      Trio Smiles! Is the name of the Latin Jazz, Brazilian trio
 formed in 2003 by Stelios Papazoglou on guitar, Andreas  Rodosthenous on electric bass and Rodos Panagiotou on drums.  It was in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) that Stelios, Andreas and  Rodos met and started playing together. Rodos and Andreas used  to play together for many years before since they are both from  Limassol, Cyprus. Stelios is from Kavala, Greece. All three of  them studied jazz and Latin music in the Rotterdam's Conservatory  where they could play among other kinds of music, jazz, Brazilian,  salsa and Latin jazz.
      Trio Smiles! Played in Rotterdam, among other places, in the     “Doelen”, the “Dizzy Jazz café”, the “Zuid Plein (south area)   theater” and also in the Haag in the “Pater latin bar” and in  Amsterdam in different places.
     This summer 2007, they feature in their trio a very talented  singer. Magda Mendes  is a Portuguese singer living in Holland  since 2002. She studied Jazz/ LatinJazz at the Rotterdam’s  Conservatory where she got in contact with musicians from  Holland and abroad. Involved with several World Music orientated  projects, she found her own way to mix several styles she loves,  like Brazilian Jazz and Fado from her country.
      This singer “feels at home” working with this trio, once the  musical connection is as easy as it is very strong. The music they  make together travels beyond geographical barriers, and takes the  people with them into their musical common language.
