Rough Guide
“.....Both however, defer to Paradise Place, about 1km west of the village center (look for the unmissable verandah), which purveys “Home made & improvised food & drink” to an” alternative” clientele of Cyprus & foreigners. Socratis the proprietor worked in Athens for 25 years, which has a salutary effect on the food - it's excellent, abundant & features at least one vegetarian main dish each day; budget C₤ 8 a head. It's open 10am till late with no set meal hours (though it's okay to just have a drink); there's a salsa / jazz / Greek / soundtracks, plus occasional live sessions, culminating in a more regular jazz festival for three days in September. The promisingly named “Paradise Beach” (as pictured on the restaurant's business card) is well hidden & just downhill from some greenhouses across the road; the final trail approach is slippery, so flip-flops are inadvisable.” |
