Rodos Panayiotou, Bsc
in Music (Drums
and Percussion)
Rodos Panayiotou was
born in Limassol in 1977.
He started to play drums at the early age of eight.
Coming from a family with a musical background, self-taught at the age of ten,
he began playing with his family group. After finishing his studies in 1998 at
the Hellenic School of Music he performed in different concerts with very well
known artists from Greece and Cyprus (Nicos
Xanthopoulos, Yiota Lydia,
Zagoreos and Anagnostakis). He was teaching drums for two years just before he
decided to leave Cyprus
in 2000 and enter Rotterdam Concervatorium. There he studied for five years drums
and percussion focusing his studies on Latin- jazz and World music. Coming back
to Cyprus
he continues teaching as a music teacher at a private Primary and High School
(accredided by the Ministry of Education) as well as giving private drums and
percussion lessons. However he started again performing as part of various
local music groups (i.e the lately formed Cyprus Big Band-Latin Jazz, Up-down Beat
- Funk Jazz music, and Kyprogenia playing traditional Cypriot music in modern
arrangements). Along he was given the golden opportunity to perform and cooperate,
both as a drummer and a percussion player, with other famous artists and bands from
abroad such us Andreas Georgiou Trio - Ethnic Jazz, George Dalaras, Marios
Fragkulis, Makedonas, Pantelis Thalassinos, Vasilis Lekas, Demetris Mbasis,
Manolis Lidakis, Mihalis Violaris, Kostas Hadjis, Vasilis Saleas, Viki Leandros,
Debora Meyers and Stefanos Korkollis.
