Gabriel Karapatakis
was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1968.
He studied music at Mannes
College ,New York1989-1990 and at Rotterdams Conservatorium 1995-1999,(BA
of music).
In the Netherlands he performed with various professional
Latin- Brazillian Jazz bands and renowned artist like Annelies de
Jong, Jarmo Hoogendijk, Ben van den Dungen, Marc Bishof , Chris
Strik.
In 2002 he performed with the Cyprus state orchestra.
He
worked with renowned Greek singers/composers G.Dalaras, V.Lekas,
K.Makedonas, G.Hatjinasios, M.Tokas and with the worldknown singer
Deborah Mayers.
He performed in Lebanon with Margarita Zorpalla,
in Sidney-Australia with Koullis Theodorou,in London (Theater Palace)
with Marios Fragoulis and in Serbia with "Kyprogeneia".
He
is a founding member of the Jazz band «Ambodis quintet»
He is a member of the Jazz-Funk band "Uptown beat"
, "Cyprus Bigband" and "Andreas Georgiou Ethnic Jazz
Trio".
He is featured in various CD’s.
As a composer
he composed music for TV, documentarys ''Troodos the green heart
of Cyprus'', ''The church of Ayion Kirikos and Iulitti'',
Agia Skepi ''Thelo na xanagino anthropos'', ''Ledra sreet''and for
Lefkosia Youth ballet Dance Performance.
As a teacher he taught
bass guitar at Intercollege, ARTE Music Academy and now at Nicosia
University.
